"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." Dale Carnegie

I have this thing about getting busy and accomplishing something - I am bothered when people sit around with apparently nothing to do (and expect to get paid for it) ....with that said I also feel strongly that we need to learn how to work smarter and not harder. It's easy to keep busy shuffling papers here and there and making phone calls, checking e-mails, etc. - looking busy but what are we accomplishing? Where are your goal posts? Where is your field of play - are you even in the game? What is your score?
"Score?" you say...YES, how do you know if you are winning if you aren't keeping score!?! Start one day at a time. It's all about numbers...the bottom line is how much time or money do you need to accomplish today's task. Write it down and track it. When you realize you have just met your goal and you still have time or used less money or made more money that you had planned - that is awesome. On the other hand, when you realize you are behind the gun, then you have to ask yourself - how can I improve, what change do I need to make, what went wrong that I can avoid next time.
It's either WOW or HOW - "Wow, great job" or "How do I fix this?" Keep it simple, start tomorrow, but only with tomorrow - one day at a time. Don't over think it, just do it! When you mess up, smile or laugh out loud and start over - now. Don't put it off - fix it now. Would you continue to drive your car with a flat tire? No, you would fix it. Although things don't always appear as cut and dried as a flat tire, they are never the less just as detrimental to the flow of accomplishing things. Fix it now and move on. Keep moving, with movement comes a feeling of accomplishment, with that feeling of accomplishment comes the reality that you are accomplishing things and the confidence to continue on to the next thing and the next and the next. And yes, it is another great day in paradise!

“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” Andre Gide

Change is a noisy thing, and during change the truth is a fast-moving target. Change is not only noisy but at first it is rather inefficient. The key to change is communication and the more communication the better. And before you know it, the change has become the norm.

Change can be frightening as well. It's sometimes easier to continue in our old ways because we already know the result and it's comfortable, even if it's wrong. Once you start stepping out of your comfort zone, your confidence level drops, your focus isn't as focused and you just want to go back to those old ways....take a deep breath and keep moving. Every step gets easier, focus harder, just do it. ( Nike came up with a great saying!)

My brother lost 157 pounds in a little over a year. How did he do that, you ask? He left the shore behind and headed for a new ocean. Was it easy? Probably not at first. Has he embraced the change? Oh yeah! (You can find out more about his journey at www.trustmeonthesunscreen.com)

If you aren't happy with where you are at, YOU have to make a change. You cannot keep doing the same things and expect more than the same old results. (You can't keep taking a left turn and expect to go right....)

Bottom line is, life is short and we make it what we want, so get out there and enjoy your life, no more regrets, no more excuses. Make a decision and then take action. I would rather be saying, "Well, that didn't work, let's do this now!" instead of "What if?"

"The greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances." Martha Washington

The buck stops here. My happiness is up to me, not you or anyone else. With that said, how hard is it to NOT blame someone else for our problems, etc.? And there are some people that it's just easier to say it's all their fault because of how they treated me, etc. Sure things aren't always fair and sometimes the right road is not the smoothest road, but you will get much farther if you let go of the hurts and disasters in our life so they don't hold us back.
I have found if I can become content (as in accepting where I am at) then I am able to move forward. The more I struggle with my circumstances the worse things become. Remember the saying, "Just let  it go."? Sounds simple, it's just not always easy. We have to let the past go and live in today so we can go forward. We have to accept where we are to move forward. Contentment is not giving up, it's just plain acceptance.
Listening to my grandsons bickering over who's turn it is on the Wii game and how "You had more turns than me!" and off one would go crying that someone else made them unhappy, it's all their fault, etc. Hopefully as an adult, I have matured to the point that it's easier to give someone else a little more than I have so that someday I may actually get more in return.

"Every thought we think is creating our future." -Louise Hay

Where are you are now is a result of your past thoughts. And you decide where you go from here. Life is shorter than we think and it's really all about choices - we make a choice to be happy and get things done or we make a choice to not be happy, etc. Yes, other people can influence our choices but the bottom line, it's really up to YOU.
Live today to the fullest - enjoy!

"Success will never be a big step in the future, success is a small step taken just now." Jonatan MÃ¥rtensson

Looking back, it is so much easier to see the things we could have done differently or the things we should have done. "If only," or "I should have...." or "Why didn't I just...?"
The first lesson we need to learn is to quit looking back. Don't let your past hold you back. Believe in yourself and know that you are right where you are supposed to be. It's your choice how you go forward.
Don't doubt and never look back.

When I am overwhelmed it's so easy to procrastinate.........

"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing."
Theodore Roosevelt
Don't let fear of failure paralyze you. Go out and take action. If you make mistakes, which you will, learn from them and keep moving forward. Get in the game of life, don't sit on the bench. -Dan O'

What are you telling yourself?

“It's not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life, it's what you whisper to yourself that has the most power!” Robert T. Kiyosaki
Sometimes I wonder why things seem to fall apart and then I realize it's because I didn't really believe in what I was doing. I was going at it half-heartedly, not putting forth my best effort - letting distractions keep me from focusing. I have found if I just take a break and re-focus I can usually accomplish the task properly or totally go in a new direction.  Another life lesson for me is being able to make a change when needed. Change is noisy and inefficient as well as it takes time. But the rewards can be huge. I make a living basically selling my time, so time is quite valuable to me...but I still have to take the time to do things right or make the changes needed and not take shortcuts. Easier said than done but I am learning. Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks?

There are still three birds, until the one acts on his decision to fly away he will still be sitting there.....

“You can have many great ideas in your head, but what makes the difference is the action. Without action upon an idea, there will be no manifestation, no results, and no reward.” Miguel Ruiz

I guess that would be my New Year's Resolution - to take action instead of procrastinating and letting life fly by me at hyper speed. Time management - is that the answer? I practice time management - lists, calendars, reminders, etc. It's life that messes up my schedule - am I complaining? No, not at all but it sure does make time management more adventurous.

Do or do not - it is up to me.

“I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work” Thomas Alva Edison

There are days when it seems as though I am getting nowhere! Then there are days when I actually do NOT get anywhere....and once in awhile there are days that it feels like things are getting done. The bottom line is to keep moving.
If there are 3 birds sitting on a branch and one decides to fly away....how many birds are left?

Life is always an adventure!

"I don't measure a man's success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom." George S. Patton
Everybody has setbacks, just keep going. All it takes is just one little step at a time. Just keep moving.

This year is already 6 days old.......

2012 is starting out with many changes underway for me. Tax season is upon us and I am already busier than a one-armed paper hanger.
How is your year shaping up already?
